Normally there are three types of certification. These are generally classified and are listed in order of the level of development. Internal or Corporate certifications are created by an association or a small organization for purposes within its boundaries. For instance, an organization which has organized a single day training program for its staff might need to give a certificate. There are certifications which are Product- Centric. These are more top certifications and have universal application. The information technology industry uses this effectively and efficiently by issuing certificates to the trainees using the latest Software that’s available.

However, the type of certification that is most common is profession-based. As the touch of professionalism becomes a necessity the level of practices is increased and protects the public, possibly.  A certification can be established by a profession. As can be seen in the Aviation industry or other certifications like Microsoft certifications or Cisco certifications. These are all top certifications and carry a lot of value anywhere in the world. These types of certifications are generally portable in nature. Of course this general nature of it increases the cost of the program as the process to prepare a legally eligible assessment of the whole profession is wide and extensive.
