A medical college or medical university is an educational institution that is tertiary. In most of the European countries, China and India, medical study is finished as a degree in the undergraduate level that does not require any pre-determined coursework. However, a majority of places are shifting medical study to the graduate level like in the United States. In the US and Canada, medical degrees are offered only at the post graduate level usually requiring more than 7 years of medical study in the undergraduate level. Often, students who join medical colleges complete a bachelors degree with a curriculum that is somewhat based on medicine. However, medical colleges do accept students who finish a variety of courses not necessarily based on medicine as long as the required conditions and prerequisites are met.

In the US
The Association of American Medical Colleges is the apex medical study body for colleges and universities that have a list of many accredited schools that offer medicine as a course. If a person wants to get admitted into a medical college in the U.S, they have to complete either the GMAT or the MCAT. There are no minimum scores to get in these tests though.

In the UK
Currently there are 32 medical colleges and universities in the U.K that offer medical study. Each college has their own admission criteria but everyone insists on good High school marks and decent performances in standardized tests such as the UKCAT.

Medicine is both an art and science and refers to the process of healing. It includes a broad range of practices that bring about the mental and physical well-being of an individual by prevention and treatment of a disease in the body.  From time immemorial, medicine has grown and evolved in a variety of ways!

Medical Colleges and Universities offer Medical study to young students who want to pursue a career in Medicine. These students typically have to follow entry level medical requirements to get into any medical college or medical university. This is followed by a practice in a hospital or nursing home and is completed after the student receives his medical degree. However, sometimes students may not join to practice as they may wish to do work in the research side of medicine. These students may sometimes get degrees different from the others. However, the field of medicine is growing at a rapid rate and thus many regulatory authorities want students to continue studying new aspects of medicine to stay in touch.
